The short answer
- React Native or Expo app, one SDK: Vexo records replays next to analytics, tap heatmaps, crashes, and network requests, at published rates.
- Lowest cost: Microsoft Clarity is free, with no traffic limits, on iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter.
- A broad product platform: PostHog adds analytics, feature flags, experiments, and error tracking, each metered on its own.
- Replay for debugging errors: Sentry attaches replays to crashes and performance issues.
- Flutter or native-only apps: PostHog, Sentry, Clarity, UXCam, LogRocket, Mixpanel, and Amplitude. Vexo doesn't support Flutter.
Session replay lets you watch what a user saw and did in your app: the taps, the screens, the spinner that never went away. On the web, most tools record the page's DOM. Mobile apps have no DOM, so each vendor captures the screen its own way, through screenshots, video, or wireframes, and that choice shapes what's masked, how much data the SDK sends, and which frameworks it supports.
This post compares eight tools that record mobile sessions, including ours. Every competitor fact comes from the vendor's own pricing page or docs, listed under Sources. Prices are as of November 2026; plans change, so confirm the live page before you budget.
Platform support at a glance
Which platforms each tool's session replay records. “Development builds” means the SDK needs native code, so it runs in an Expo development build or EAS Build but not in Expo Go.

The tools, one by one
Vexo
Best for: React Native and Expo teams that want session replay, product analytics, and heatmaps from one SDK and one bill.
Vexo records React Native and Expo apps on iOS and Android, and websites through a script tag. On mobile, the SDK captures the screen at a low frame rate and encodes it on the device as compressed video, about 200 KB per minute, lined up with the session's taps, screen changes, and network requests. Recording works offline and syncs later, uploads can wait for Wi-Fi, and every frame is blurred on the device by default. No published release masks individual views yet. The same vexo() call also powers tap heatmaps, crash and ANR-style reporting, and network request monitoring, and you can filter replays by any custom event.
The free plan includes 500K events and 1,000 session replays a month. Past that, you pay for events from $30 per additional million events, scaling down to $12/M at higher volume, and replays past the included 1,000 cost $3 per 1,000 if you raise your replay limit. See our pricing section for the details, and session replays for how playback and filtering work.
PostHog
Best for: teams that want replay inside a broad product platform across mobile and web.
PostHog's mobile session replay is generally available on Android, iOS, React Native, and Flutter. Native SDKs can record in a wireframe mode; React Native and Flutter always record in screenshot mode. On mobile, PostHog masks all text, inputs, and images by default. Replay on React Native needs a development build, not Expo Go.
PostHog bills each product separately. The first 2,500 mobile recordings a month are free, then they cost $0.01 each up to 15,000, falling to $0.003 each past 500,000. Web recordings have their own meter: 5,000 free, then from $0.005 each. The free plan keeps recordings for one month; pay-as-you-go keeps them for 90 days. For a full cost breakdown, see Vexo vs PostHog pricing.
Microsoft Clarity
Best for: teams on a zero budget, or anyone who wants replay and tap heatmaps without metered pricing.
Clarity is free, with no traffic limits and no sampling. Its mobile SDKs cover native Android and iOS, React Native, and Flutter, and it records by capturing low-level drawing commands to build a walkthrough-style video. It doesn't run in Expo Go; use EAS Build. The default “Balanced” masking hides input boxes, numbers, and email addresses, and “Strict” masks all text and images. On React Native, you mask individual views by testID. Recordings are kept for 30 days.
Sentry
Best for: teams already using Sentry who want a replay attached to every error.
Sentry's mobile session replay is generally available on native Android and iOS, React Native, and Flutter. It takes a view-hierarchy snapshot and a screenshot about once per second and masks all text and images by default. The React Native SDK works with Expo SDK 50 or newer through a config plugin. The free Developer plan includes 50 replays and one user; the Team plan starts at $29 a month ($26 billed yearly) with 50 replays, and extra replays are billed by volume. Sentry focuses on errors and performance, so you'd pair it with a product analytics tool.
UXCam
Best for: mobile product teams that want a dedicated mobile analytics suite and are fine with quote-based pricing.
UXCam has official SDKs for Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter, and several other frameworks, plus a web SDK. Its React Native SDK supports Expo SDK 47 and later through EAS Build; Expo Go can't load its native modules. UXCam detects crashes and ANRs automatically and offers heatmaps with taps, swipes, and rage taps; on React Native and Flutter, you tag screens through its API. By default it masks sensitive field types, such as password fields; masking all text fields is opt-in. Pricing is based on monthly sessions, with a custom quote and a free trial.
LogRocket
Best for: engineering teams that debug with replay, network logs, and crashes across web and mobile.
LogRocket runs on Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter, Ionic, and Expo (through a config plugin, not Expo Go). Its mobile SDK captures views about once per second and shows views it couldn't capture in time as wireframes. On Android and iOS you get video replay, heatmaps, funnels, network logs, and crashes; heatmaps aren't supported for Flutter. The free plan includes 1,000 sessions a month. Core starts at $83 a month for 10,000 sessions and Pro at $292 a month, both billed yearly, and web and mobile sessions count against the same quota.
Mixpanel
Best for: teams that already use Mixpanel for analytics and want replays next to their funnels.
Mixpanel's session replay supports web, iOS, Android, and React Native, with a separate Flutter replay SDK. The React Native replay package needs React Native 0.76 or later. On iOS, Mixpanel masks all text, images, web views, and maps by default. The free plan includes 10,000 replays a month, kept for 30 days, and Growth includes 20,000 and lets you add up to 500,000; Mixpanel doesn't publish a per-replay price. Heatmaps aren't available in its mobile replay SDKs. See Vexo vs Mixpanel pricing.
Amplitude
Best for: teams that want deep behavioral analytics with replay included on every plan.
Amplitude includes session replay for mobile and web on all plans: 10,000 replays a month on Free and Plus, 20,000 on Growth, and 50,000 on Enterprise, with more available as an add-on on the higher plans. Replays are kept for one month. It supports Android, iOS, React Native (through its Unified SDK, in beta), and Flutter, and React Native replay needs a development build or prebuild. Amplitude's heatmaps work with web replays only. See Vexo vs Amplitude pricing.
Also worth knowing
- FullStory records mobile apps by capturing draw instructions rather than screenshots, with text and images masked at the source. Mobile capture is a paid add-on, and paid pricing is quote-only.
- Datadog RUM records Android, iOS, Kotlin Multiplatform, React Native, and Flutter (Flutter in preview) as wireframes, with all text and images masked by default. Session Replay is an add-on to RUM at $2.50 per 1,000 sessions billed yearly, or $3.60 on demand.
- Luciq (formerly Instabug) offers session replay on iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter, with quote-only pricing based on daily active users and seats.
- Smartlook stopped selling new subscriptions on May 31, 2026, and plans to shut down the platform on September 30, 2027, so we left it out of the comparison.
When Vexo is and isn't the right choice
Vexo is a good fit if:
- Your app is built with React Native or Expo, with or without a website to track alongside it.
- You want replay, analytics, tap heatmaps, crash reporting, and network monitoring from one SDK instead of three.
- You want to work out your bill in advance from published rates.
- Your users are often offline or on metered data: recordings sync later and can wait for Wi-Fi.
Choose another tool if:
- Your app is Flutter, or native Swift or Kotlin without React Native. Vexo's mobile SDK is for React Native and Expo only.
- You need to mask individual views. Vexo blurs every frame by default, and no published SDK release masks a single view yet. If you need sharp replays with only sensitive views hidden, PostHog and Sentry mask text and images per view by default, and Clarity lets you mask chosen views.
- You need long web replays. Vexo's web replays are capped at about five minutes, and the blur, length, and Wi-Fi controls apply to mobile only.
- You need native crash reports. Vexo reports JavaScript crashes and JS-thread stalls, not crashes in native code.
- You test in Expo Go. Like most tools here, Vexo needs a development build.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best session replay tools for mobile apps?
It depends on your stack and budget. For React Native and Expo apps, Vexo records replays alongside analytics, tap heatmaps, crashes, and network requests from one SDK. Microsoft Clarity is free with no traffic limits. PostHog, Sentry, LogRocket, Mixpanel, Amplitude, and UXCam all record native iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter apps, each tied to a different main product: a product platform, error monitoring, debugging, analytics, or mobile UX analytics.
What is the best session replay tool for React Native apps?
If you want replay, analytics, and heatmaps from one SDK at published rates, Vexo is built for React Native and Expo: its free plan includes 500K events and 1,000 session replays a month. If you already use Sentry for crashes, its React Native replay attaches recordings to errors. If you need replays with only sensitive views hidden, PostHog and Sentry mask all text and images on mobile by default, while Vexo blurs the whole screen.
What is the best session replay tool for iOS apps?
For native Swift or Objective-C apps, use a tool with a native iOS SDK, such as PostHog, Sentry, Microsoft Clarity, UXCam, LogRocket, Mixpanel, or Amplitude. Vexo records iOS sessions only in apps built with React Native or Expo.
What session replay tools support mobile and web apps?
Vexo, PostHog, Sentry, LogRocket, Mixpanel, Amplitude, and Microsoft Clarity all record both mobile apps and websites. Vexo records React Native and Expo apps plus any website that can load its script. LogRocket counts web and mobile sessions against one quota, and PostHog bills mobile recordings separately from web recordings.
What is the cheapest mobile session replay tool?
Microsoft Clarity is free, with no traffic limits. Among metered tools, compare the free allowance and the price past it: Amplitude and Mixpanel include 10,000 replays a month on their free plans, PostHog includes 2,500 mobile recordings and then charges from $0.01 each, and Vexo includes 1,000 replays and then charges $3 per 1,000. Prices are as of November 2026.
What is the best session replay tool with a free tier?
Microsoft Clarity is free outright. Amplitude and Mixpanel include 10,000 replays a month free, PostHog 2,500 mobile recordings, LogRocket 1,000 sessions, Vexo 1,000 replays (plus 500K events), and Sentry 50 replays. Free plans also differ in how long recordings are kept, so check retention before you choose.
What is the best session replay tool for Flutter apps?
Vexo doesn't support Flutter. PostHog, Sentry, Microsoft Clarity, UXCam, LogRocket, Mixpanel, and Amplitude all offer Flutter session replay. Datadog also records Flutter sessions, in preview as of November 2026.
Does mobile session replay work in Expo Go?
Usually not. Session replay needs native code, and Vexo, PostHog, Microsoft Clarity, UXCam, LogRocket, and Amplitude all document that their replay SDKs don't run in Expo Go. Use an Expo development build or EAS Build instead.
